Typical contents of webbing include cooking equipment, 24 hours' worth of rations, ammunition, first aid supplies, and sheltering equipment.

More and more webbing is being utilised to make military soft goods including luggage, harnesses, packs, seatbelts, and hiking equipment. Additionally, webbing is increasingly being utilised to create safety gear for oil and gas industry personnel.
